Time for a building inspection?

Mark Nicholet, a certified building inspector in the Comox Valley is working for you, no conflict-of-interest. Informed consumers will shop around for a certified building inspector, in particular one with academic training, experience, insurance and membership with an association. A certified building inspector is technically trained in all components of the building including roofing, exterior, structure, electrical, heating, cooling, heat pumps, plumbing, insulation, ventilation and interior.

Some home inspectors use a generic carbon-copy check list to provide on-site reports. My reports are state-of-the-art, PC generated, easy to read including narrative descriptions, implications, recommendations, pictures, diagrams and are available within 24 hours of the inspection process.

Some home inspectors take 2 hours or less to complete your inspection including the report. This allows them to conduct up to three inspections a day. My inspections take on average, 4 hours not including report generation. This allows me to cross reference my data gathered during the inspection with serial numbers, manufacturer dates, pictures and other reference material, inspecting it right!

Some home inspectors are civil engineers, carpenters or general contractors specializing in a certain trade or class other than house inspections. A certified building inspector is a general practitioner in all fields. My training and experience is specific to building inspections. I am a graduate of Carson Dunlop Consulting Engineers Home Inspection Certificate, BCIT BC Building code and InterNACHI continuing education. My priority is your safety and comfort.

I strongly encourage my clients to accompany the building inspection process. It is an essential part of the inspection and I will provide a great learning curve. You should feel free to ask any questions you may have during the building inspection. I will point out problems and explain them to you. I will also show you the good points of the home. Plus, I will explain what routine maintenance is needed to keep the house in top condition. This will help you to get the most benefit from the inspection and gain the most understanding of the systems that make up your home and how to maintain it. Enter with your heart, leave being smart.

My service doesn't end after the inspection. I am your consultant for life. Your reports will be stored on my secure server and my phone is always open - 7 days a week.
